Construction began in 1356 and was completed in 1361. It is named after Sultan Hassan, one of the minor sultans of the Qalawoon dynasty. The mosque follows the Mamluk architectural style of the 14th and 15th centuries and is considered one of the finest religious monuments in Cairo and Egypt in general. After this visit, enjoy an interesting tour of Khan El Khalili, the biggest and oldest market in Cairo.
